Welcome to our very first Converto Cars blog. We’re more than a little excited. Follow us on this exciting journey re-imaging and exploring the future of electric classic cars. We’re starting with a Triumph GT6 electrified.
Arrival of the Triumph GT6!
At Converto Cars, we adore the design and aesthetic beauty of classic sports cars. Being immersed in digital worlds and cutting-edge technology, we believe we can make the Triumph GT6 better than it has ever been by converting it into an electric classic car and removing the nasty bits (aka the ICE components). Better because of its electric simplicity and because it comes with a stunning classic design which is quite simply breath taking and far more unique than the modern electric vehicles of today.
An electric Triumph GT6 really is the type of car that makes people swoon. It’s hard not to admire its classic design with excitement and sweaty palms and a rapid heart beat. The Triumph GT6 seems underrated mainly because its rarely sighted, but when it is finally glimpsed the feeling it induces is beyond words. People stare and ask what is that car?
My name is Belinda, Founder of Converto Cars, and the owner of the Triumph GT6 pictured. I started Converto Cars at an interesting time in history. Being a glass half full person, I believe we have the opportunity and ability to change what we drive and reduce emissions to net-zero in Australia by 2030.
The “proof of concept” classic electric Triumph GT6 is underway, due to be completed in 2023, all going well. Given it takes thousands of hours to produce this magnificent creation it’s a process of going slow to go fast.
High performance, fast charging, sustainable and beautiful materials, quality and of course safety, are all critical criteria in our electric conversion. Our proof of concept will look stunning on the road and deliver the type of performance one expects from an electric sports car.
Design
We are working closely with our partners to create a bespoke electric classic car. The design includes highly efficient lithium batteries and motor and technology which leads to supreme performance.
A perfect weight balance which means great handling plus a 250km of range is what we are seeking. We believe this is enough range to drive to the coast or through the winding hills, stop for lunch in a country town pub or at a winery before fast charging for 15 minutes and driving back home. It’s definitely enough range for city driving.
We will restomod the interior finish with sustainable materials and respect the original design of this awesome British sports car. We love the new sustainable materials being experimented within the fashion and textiles industry and can apply these sustainable innovations to our electric Triumph.
